What kind of security does Fishfinder4U use? Customers can feel safe knowing Fishfinder4U.com is secured with the latest VeriSign encryption and SecurityMetrics certification. In the simplest terms, an electrical impulse from a transmitter is converted into a sound wave by the transducer and sent into the water. When this wave strikes an object, it rebounds. This echo strikes the transducer, which converts it back into an electric signal, which is amplified by the receiver and sent to the display. Since the speed of sound in water is constant (approximately 4800 feet per second), the time lapse between the transmitted signal and the received echo can be measured and the distance to the object determined. This process repeats itself many times per second. See our FREE Fish Finder Information for more details. 7. What comes with a standard fish finder? A standard fish finder kit comes with a control head, transducer and sometimes a speedometer and temperature gauge. The control head is generally mounted in proximity to the driver for speed, depth and fish location information. In some instances, the control head will be located around the trolling motor for accurate depth and fish location while trolling. The transducer is generally mounted on the transom or in the hull (if equipped). Speedometer and temperature gauges vary in location and application. A common setup will have a transom mounted speedometer with a built in temperature gauge. See our FREE Fish Finder Information for more detailed information. 8. Mounting the transducer. With basic hand tool skills, most anyone should be able to successfully install a fish finder. You will need full access to the boat and therefore we would not recommend attempting to install the unit in water. Read and understand the complete installation manual before attempting installation. If you feel uneasy about any part of the installation or do not understand the concepts, please refer the task to a qualified individual.
